Why was #AfCEM20 moved to a virtual conference?

Since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the #AfCEM20 team has been considering many different options and ideas on how to still deliver a kick-ass conference like we promised and that’s why we have opted to deliver #AfCEM20 as an exclusively digital experience with an African twist!

When is #AfCEM20?

Several live education, exhibitor and entertainment events will take place November 9-12. Multiple courses will be available on demand on any device (computer, tablet, mobile phone) so you can set your own schedule. #AfCEM20 will be an exclusively digital event that you will be able to enjoy on any device (computer, tablet, mobile phone)

Will #AfCEM20 be live or pre-recorded?

#AfCEM20 will feature both live and pre-recorded education and events. There will be 4-days of live content, plus hundreds of hours of on-demand education.

I am a Presenter at #AfCEM20. How does this affect me?

Will there be technical support at #AfCEM20?

Yes, if you are having any issues accessing content during the event, #AfCEM20 will have a dedicated team to help troubleshoot any issues you might encounter.

What if I have bad internet connectivity?

The technology platform #AfCEM20 will use should minimize glitches, frozen screen and lagging audio. However, much of the digital experience will still depend on your local WiFi and internet connections. But since most of the content will be available on the platform, you can always catch up when your connectivity improves.

Where can I get my conference schedule?

As we get closer to #AfCEM20, you will be sent an email with the conference schedule or you will be able to get it from the #AfCEM20 website. 

When will I receive the course presentations for the conference?

Presentations will be available on the digital platform for up to six(6) months after the conference. 

Where can I get information about side meetings?

AFEM sections hold their meetings during AfCEM. These meetings provide an excellent opportunity to interact with colleagues who share similar interests. If you’re considering becoming an active participant in AFEM activities, this is a great time to see what AFEM sections are all about. Where can I get information about committee meetings?

Most AFEM committees will hold organisational meetings at various times during #AfCEM20. The schedule of committee meetings will be listed in the Side Meetings Page and will be available on the conference schedule. 

Do I need to give my consent for my pictures and videos to be shared?

By registering for the conference, you consent and agree that the African Federation for Emergency Medicine (AFEM), its representatives and employees, has the right to use videos and photographs of you (and/or your property) for the African Conference on Emergency Medicine (AfCEM) and to use these in any, and all media worldwide including online, now or hereafter known, and for the project’s purpose whatsoever. You authorise the African Federation for Emergency Medicine (AFEM), its assigns and transferees to copyright, use and publish the same in print and/or electronically. You agree that the African Federation for Emergency Medicine (AFEM) may use such videos and photographs of you with or without your name and for any lawful purpose, including for example such purposes as publicity, illustration, advertising, and web content. You waive any rights, claims or interest you may have to control the use of your identity or likeness in the videos and photographs and agree that any uses described herein may be made without compensation or additional consideration of you. You represent that you are above 18 years of age, have read and understood the foregoing statement, and you are competent to execute this agreement.

What is the cancellation policy for #AfCEM20?

Due to the nature of the event, #AfCEM20 will have a non-refundable policy as you will have access to all educational courses at your convenience. Please contact the if you have any questions.

How many CPD Points can I earn at #AfCEM20?


This will be my first AfCEM Conference, what do you suggest I see and do?

Make sure you pick out the courses you’d like to participate in when you register or before the conference starts, as popular courses fill up fast. The exhibitions feature hundreds of companies showing off the latest products in emergency care. #AfCEM20 also features some spectacular networking events where you can network, and have some fun. 

Will I be able to provide any feedback on the courses I attended?

Yes. All course evaluations will be done electronically. An email will be sent out each day of the conference, to the email address you provided upon registration, from that will contain a link to the online survey. Please save the email address in the contacts of your email provider so that it doesn’t get routed to your spam folder. 

How do I get my CPD/Attendance certificate?

If you are an exhibitor, there are various ways in which you can engage with #AfCEM20 through our virtual platforms. Please visit our exhibitor section for details and to contact our team.

How do I get my side meeting/event publicised for #AfCEM20?

Email with the side meeting/event details – date, time and joining link. Side meetings will be billed at $200. AfCEM will alert all registrants about your side meeting/event details as they register for #AfCEM20. Your event details will become part of the schedule and will be include in the #AfCEM20 onsite program.
